"Strange" offers the viewer a challenge of interpretation through a combination of deep contrasting colors and bewitching form(s). Upon examining this work, this person finds the colors agreeable for the title and to portray the eerie/unusual. It is debatable here as to what/who is strange, as pitch-black tendrils point to the female subject and have (except an outstanding one) turned away, repelled, while she eyes them to the upper right corner to give them the same characteristic. Indeed, she is the primary feature of this work, while the tendrils do more to enhance her enclosure & framing. So, although it would be subjective to prefer her visible eye to be gazing/glaring out at us, to make the image more captivating and personal to the viewer AND to perhaps show the same quality at us, the fact that it does not matters very little objectively. Despite the female subject having no pointed ears, fangs, or horns, this work does have a subtle supernatural atmosphere to it, with her eye being reddish and her skin cryptically pale with darker gray textures. So, maybe it would be acceptable for Rod Serling's "Night Gallery" and then again, maybe not. I do note a slight misalignment from her nose to her mouth, but it is clearly not her beauty alone that is anything strange. Rather, this creation provides inviting mystery for the observer of that factor well with both its title and overall appearance.
